If you answered Spanish, you’d be wrong. Had I asked “official” then yes, it would be Spanish.
El Salvador’s maternal and indigenous language is actually, Nawat.
Some of you have asked if I speak Nawat. The answer is I only know a few words. I am reconnecting with my maternal language thanks to his amazing channel and wonderful teacher, “Timumachtikan Nawat” (Let’s Learn Nawat).

Surprisingly, I am picking it up faster than I thought I would because it turns out that us, Salvadorans, use this language in everyday conversation, and we didn’t event know it. However, only a teeny tiny percentage of the populations speaks this language fluently, and there is a tragic and sad reason behind that, but I’ll get into that subject in another video.
